Consensus protocols for chromosome banding and
FISH analyses

Consensus protocols of the ELN for cytogenetic analyses in leukemias have been published (Haferlach C, et al.: Proposals for standardized protocols for cytogenetic analyses of acute leukemias, chronic lymphocytic leukemia, chronic myeloid leukemia, chronic myeloproliferative disorders, and myelodysplastic syndromes. Genes, Chromosomes Cancer, 2007 May;46(5):494-9. link: PM:17311250)

Proposal for the rules and contents of
cytogenetic data collections

In treatment studies, cytogenetic data are used to classify patients according to distinct cytogenetic subgroups. The data records used to collect cytogenetic data may vary between different study groups and, thus, lead to inconsistencies of the contents of cytogenetic data. Such inconsistencies may hamper a detailed analysis of cytogenetic data in joint studies. Therefore, a proposal for the minimal data set and for the rules of data handling in cytogenetic studies of the ELN was drafted by WP11.
