Dr. R. Bassan (Bergamo, Italy): Senior Consultant in Hematology, Ospedali Riuniti, Bergamo. Associate Professor of Hematology, University Milano-Bicocca. Main coordinator and promoter of Northern Italy Leukemia Group (NILG). Responsible for treatment protocol design and study conduct in adult ALL and AML, involving risk stratification according to disease immunophenotype, cytogenetics/molecular genetics, and risk-specific treatment allocation with/without stem cell transplantation. Leading an innovative minimal residual disease (MRD)-oriented study in ALL, and highly interested/ developing new studies in the field of supportive/anti-infection strategy, STI571 plus chemotherapy in Ph+ ALL, multidrug resistant and primary refractory leukemia, autologous blood stem cells, and optimal use of anthracyclinic drugs.
Prof.Dr. H. Dombret (Paris, France): Professor of Clinical Hematology, Hôpital Saint-Louis since 1996. Chairman of the Acute Leukemia French Association (ALFA). Co- chairman of the French GET-LALA Group (Groupe d'Etudes et de Traitement des Leucémies Aiguës Lymphoblastiques de l'Adulte). Longstanding experience in the organisation of clinical studies and therapeutical trials in acute and chronic leukemias, with a special interest in differentiation and pro-apoptotic therapies.

Dr. N. Gökbuget (Frankfurt, Germany): Coordinator of the German Multicenter Studies for Adult ALL, Head of the German Leukemia Information Center, Head of the Study Center at the Medical Clinic III. Longstanding experience in planning, organisation and analysis of clinical multicenter trials (phase II-IV). Clinical studies in adult ALL including new cytostatic drugs or biologic approaches. Longstanding experience in research in hematology / adult ALL. Chairman of the German Multicenter Study Group for Adult ALL (GMALL) with 6 consecutive studies for adult de novo ALL and additional studies on mature B-ALL, Burkitt’s NHL, T-LBL, elderly patients, Ph/BCR-ABL positive ALL and relapsed ALL. The group has more than 100 participating centers and more than 3000 prospectively treated adult ALL patients.

Longstanding experience in design of protocols and clinical trials for treatment of children and adult acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL).
