Lead Participants:

Prof.Dr. T. Barbui (Bergamo, Italy): Main research interests are CMPD‘s, acute leukemias and acquired thrombophilic disorders. He is appointed for integrating European cooperative groups in the framework of the European Hematology association (EHA). He chaired the European working group on CMPD.

Prof.Dr. G. Barosi (Pavia, Italy): Head of the Laboratory of Medical Informatics at the University Hospital of Pavia. He is expert in information science, clinical trial conduct, operational research, and in the management and clinics of patients with myelofibrosis with myeloid metaplasia (MMM). Chairman of the Italian Registry for MMM, International reputation for biology (CD34 phenotype in MMM) and treatment (Trials with Thalidomide and diagnostic criteria for MMM).

Prof.Dr. G. Finazzi (Bergamo, Italy): Head of the Department Hemostasis and Thrombosis, Ospedali Riuniti, Bergamo, Italy. Member of the Executive Committee, Federazione Italiana dei Centri per la Sorveglanza della Terapia Anticoagulante Oral (FCSA).

Prof.Dr. J. Kiladjan (, France):

Prof.Dr. H.H. Pahl (Freiburg, Germany): Center for Clinical Research, University Hospital Freiburg. She is a well recognized scientist in the field of CMPD. She was the first to describe the overexpression of PRV1 in PV and ET.

Participants:

Prof.Dr. G. Birgegard (Uppsala, Sweden): Department of Hematology, Center for Medicine, University Hospital, Uppsala. Chairman of the Nordic Group for Myeloproliferative Disorders (Nordic MPD Group) and Co-author of guidelines for treatment of MPD in Sweden. His research has focussed on erythropoiesis and the pathophysiology of polycythemia vera as well as erythropoietin pathophysiology and Epo treatment. He is the head investigator in the anagrelide treatment study performed by the Nordic MPD Group.

H. Cario (, Germany):

N. Casadevall (, France):

Prof.Dr. F. Cervantes (Barcelona, Spain):

G. Finazzi (, Italy):

Dr. F. Frassoni (Genova, Italy): Head Stem Cell Centre and Cellular Therapy, Department of Hemato-Oncology, Ospedale San Martino, Genova. Chairman of Acute Leukemia Working Party of the European Blood and Marrow Transplant Group. Longstanding experience in clinical and experimental hematopoetic stem cell transplantation. (HSCT). PI or Co-PI of several studies in the field of HSCT, Hematology and Plasticity of Stem Cells. Reviewer for major journals in the field of hematology and stem cell transplantation. Research interest: stem cell biology, leukemia, treatment of leukemia, hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.

Prof.Dr. H. Gisslinger (Vienna, Austria): University of Vienna, Department of Internal Medicine I, Division of Hematology and Blood Coagulation. He published the first description of the therapeutic effect of Interferon alpha on lowering of platelet counts in Ph-neg. CMPD and did several investigations on the effect and side effects as well as pathophysiological effects of interferon alpha in patients with CMPD.
